Our newest member is Les Osmond. We asked him to tell us a little about himself …

I was born in Guildford, Surrey in 1951 where I remained until marrying Sally in 1974 when we moved to Farnborough as Sally was a Clinical Biochemist at Frimley Park Hospital, and subsequently relocated to Sandhurst, Berkshire in 1979 where we are still resident.

I have two daughters, Charlotte is a lawyer working in Reading, and Victoria is the Events Manager at a country hotel in Egham. Sally, having returned to work after the children had sufficiently grown up, followed a different path in her industry and is now an Executive Vice President for a large international clinical trials company.

On leaving school in 1968 I entered the Architectural profession and am now a Member of  Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Building. New Rotary Member Les

Having spent almost 20 years employed in various Practices I became a Partner in an Architectural Practice in Camberley in 1988. When my partner retired in 1991 I started my current Building Design Consultancy, L.J.Osmond & Associates.

During the 22 years this Practice has been in existence I have worked on of various types of projects including, Commercial Offices, Business Parks, Industrial Units, large one off houses, residential developments and of course domestic extension and refurbishment work.

I also have been involved in number of projects for Sandhurst Town Council at their Memorial Park grounds, and during my 8 years as a Governor of Sandhurst School was responsible for number of refurbishment projects within the school.

Whilst the Practise is still active, I am looking to reduce my workload and look forward to putting some of that time into becoming an active member of Farnborough Rotary Club. I am also using my spare time to improve my golf game, although that seems to be along haul.
