On Thursday 22 August, the President and members of the Rotary Club of Farnborough attended a reception lunch to present a cheque for £65,000 to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The money was the proceeds of this year’s extremely successful Picnic to Music in the Park which was held at George V Playing fields in Farnborough over the weekend of 13/14 July.

The good weather helped to make this year’s event, which featured Status Quo and Queen tribute bands and eight top acts from The Magic of Motown, an enormous success.

Nigel Penny, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Chairman said: “We are extremely grateful to The Rotary Club of Farnborough. The weekend was superbly organised and it was terrific to see so many people enjoying themselves whilst raising valuable funds for the Hospice. We rely heavily on the support of our local community to help raise over £15,000 a day needed to offer our full range of services to our patients and their families.”

Picnic to Music in the Park, has been staged by the rotary club every other year since 2001 and has now raised over £250,000 for the hospice to help with its daily running costs.
