Recently Tulasi Neupane from the Rotary club of Patan Kathmandu visited our club. Its always interesting to know what other clubs are doing across the world, so I interviewed him about the work that his club carries out. Sam Rowe from The Academy Of Hard Knocks in Aldershot came to Rotary today to talk the members about his project to get young people off the street and help them to stay out of trouble. His story was like many others that he is now trying to help. A serial offender, who spent a great deal of time, as a youth and an adult behind bars. Farnborough Rotary Club have unveiled a new clock to commemorate their 50th anniversary at the Princesmead Shopping Centre in Farnborough. The clock was unveiled by the Mayor of Farnborough, Alan Ferrier and the president of Farnborough Rotary Club Mr Bill Cooke. To celebrate Farnborough Rotary clubs 50th anniversary this year a tree has been planted at King George V playing fields, Sycamore Road Farnborough on Monday 6th April. The event was attended by over 35 rotarians and the Mayor of Rushmoor Alan Ferrier accompanied by the Mayoress. Last night our club joined forces with the Blackwater Valley Rotary club at the Holiday Inn Farnborough, to hear a very motivating and inspirational talk given by Helene Raynsford, the young paralympian who has achieved so much in the last 8 years. Helene spoke about her illness that left her disabled whilst at university, the challenges she faced up to, on the way to becoming a gold medal winner and she gave us a blow by blow account of how she was feeling as she won the gold medal race. ...
