Every December, Farnborough Rotary members and friends walk the streets of Farnborough with the Christmas float to raise funds for local charities. Last night our club joined forces with the Blackwater Valley Rotary club at the Holiday Inn Farnborough, to hear a very motivating and inspirational talk given by Helene Raynsford, the young paralympian who has achieved so much in the last 8 years. Helene spoke about her illness that left her disabled whilst at university, the challenges she faced up to, on the way to becoming a gold medal winner and she gave us a blow by blow account of how she was feeling as she won the gold medal race. ...

Today author and former school teacher came to our rotary club lunch and gave a talk on his experiences as a teacher and now published author. He has published 3 books and two of them have been turned into audio books. He hails from Yorkshire originally, but now lives in Surrey.  Currently he is on a tour of Waterstones Bookstores. Rotarians To Visit York

Over 25 rotarians from our club along with partners are taking a 3 day trip to York in April. It is one of the many events that the Rotary club gets involved in each year. Organised by rotarian Roy Sharpe who joined the club in 1970 and regularly organises trips for members. We also have active snooker and golf teams who play together regularly and there are also dart matches, trips to the theatre and many other social events, giving members a chance to get together and get to know each other...

Rotary Young Citizen Winner receives Diana Award Rotary Young Citizen Award winner Nicole Dryburgh received a Diana Award during a reception at 11 Downing Street earlier this week. Nicole, who celebrated her 20th birthday on Monday (9th February), has been left blind, profoundly deaf and unable to walk due to spinal cancer but despite this has written a book, runs her own website, writes a column for her weekly newspaper in Kent and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for her favourite...
