Burns Night For Farnborough Rotary Club

On Saturday 23rd January  Farnborough Rotary Club held a Burns Night. It was a great success with nearly 80 people attending. I made a video of some of the “dancing” but dare not show it for fear of being sued by members worried about their image. Oh alright then!!! Also I took some photos too… A great night and we raised over £1600 Thanks to all who came, especially Sue Evans, Liz Howarth and Pam Minnet for all the cooking of the Neaps, tatties and other delicacies...

ShelterBox sends earthquake team

Courtesy of the BBC The Cornish charity ShelterBox has sent a disaster response team to the scene of an earthquake which struck central Italy earlier. The workers will report back on the level of aid needed. An initial 40 survival boxes containing tents, sleeping bags and cooking equipment are being sent out overnight from the charity’s Helston base. Tree planting ceremony

To celebrate Farnborough Rotary clubs 50th anniversary this year a tree has been planted at King George V playing fields, Sycamore Road Farnborough on Monday 6th April. The event was attended by over 35 rotarians and the Mayor of Rushmoor Alan Ferrier accompanied by the Mayoress. Farnborough Rotary club is out of the annual district badminton competition. Sean Usher and Jim Thomson from Farnborough played John Dumbrell and Karen Sutton from the Shepperton Aurora club. Shepperton Aurora beat Farnborough A 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).
