The generosity of the people of Farnborough was well-demonstrated on Sunday 7th October when shoppers in Queensmead donated £500 for Shelterbox, a UK based disaster relief charity.   Members of Farnborough Rotary Club had on display the equipment used by Shelterbox and that is currently being distributed to the Indonesian families following the terrible earthquake and Tsunami on the island of Sulawesi.

Shoppers in Farnborough were able to see the large Family Relief tent which is capable of housing a family for the medium term, equipment such as the water filters, solar lamps and other desperately required items provided by the Shelterbox teams who arrived three days after the event.

Right now, ShelterBox is also helping families recover after super typhoon Mangkhut devastated homes in the Philippines, and in Kenya where flooding has made thousands of families homeless. They are also working with our partners in Syria, Iraq, Lake Chad Basin and Somalia.

Nothing can replace what has been lost in Sulawesi, but Shelterbox is determined to  provide the shelter, aid and hope that families so desperately need right now.

If you would like to give money which is guaranteed to go toward what is so urgently needed, please go to https://www.shelterbox.org where you can make a donation on-line.

Our sincere thanks go to Rushmoor Borough Council who provided the required licence for us to establish the collection on Sunday.
