The Gym, although celebrating its 40th anniversary only moved to its current location in 2000 which was the former Aldershot Ice Rink. Due to the dedication of the Directors of Training -Colin and Bernie Wright, and with a lot of help from the parents of the children, they have turned this building into a first class academy which provides sport and gymnastics facilities to young people from some of the most deprived areas in the south.

We were given an example of what has been achieved by these young people with vaulting, floor exercises and the parallel bars exercises. The goal for some of these gymnasts is the 2020 Olympics and we wish them well for the future.

We were all given a tour of the facilities and during the 16 years in this building a lot of improvements have taken place but more still to needs to be carried out, so fund raising is an ongoing project and this year the gym hopes to refurbish both the boys’ and girls’ changing rooms and showers.
