It was just a couple of weeks back that Michael Wright from the Rotary Club of Phnom Penh visited us and gave a talk about a project his club were working on called meningoencephalocoele. This project has already helped over 70 patients, mostly children, but desperately needs more funding to continue. At our monthly business meeting our President elect Brian Fagg presented an international award to the founders of the Burma Children’s Fund, a charity set up by Colin & Johni van Orton. They set up the charity following a visit to the All Saints Church in Maymyo Burma in 2004 and found the church in poor repair. Farnborough student Gyan Gurung was given £200 to go towards the total of £800 he needed to raise for his trip to Zimbabwe by Farnborough Rotary Club. The trip was organised by Progessio. We have made another donation to the Phnom Penh Rotary Club in Cambodia to support its MEC project.  This time we gave £550 which is approximately US$800, the average cost of transport, treatment and follow up for one patient.
